Nasal Bacteria Culture

MARCoNS (Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci) is an antibiotic resistant staph that resides deep in the nasal passage commonly found in those who have had mold exposure or biotoxin illness. Biofilm production in bacteria, mold or yeast, may account for chronic sinus congestion.

Sample collection tubes

The presence of MARCoNS causes additional health issues by increasing inflammatory markers, and lowering the immune system, potentially leading to symptoms of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.  This particular test may be requested by your doctor, if there are chronic symptoms such as sinus headaches, sinus congestion, chronic sinus infections, or suspicion of mold exposure.

This test requires a nasal swab that is collected at EVND and then sent to the lab, Microbiology DX, where the sample will be cultured to determine growth of organisms, such as bacteria and/or fungi based on the selection of the doctor.
