Natural Healing with Acupuncture

acupunctureThe word “acupuncture” often evokes images of ancient China, and rightly so.  This treatment has been used in the East for thousands of years and is finally gaining momentum in this part of the world.  The belief behind acupuncture is that energy travels through the body along pathways which are called meridians.  When that flow of energy is interrupted or blocked, the body responds in negative ways.  Symptoms of blocked energy flow can include:

  • Pain
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Digestive imbalances
  • Infertility
  • Headaches
  • Varying levels of fatigue

At East Valley Naturopathic Doctors, we are trained to ease these maladies through the implementation of acupuncture.  During treatment, a doctor will evaluate the patient’s needs and then place very thin needles (about the gauge of a human hair) into strategic “acupoints,” or points on energy transporting meridians.  Once placed, these needles stimulate the pathways to restore the smooth flow of energy that has been interrupted or blocked throughout the body.  By relieving the energy congestion, the body is allowed to return to optimal fluidity and it no longer responds in negative, unhealthy ways.

The acupuncture needles we utilize are completely sterile and never reused.  Once used, needles are thrown away so that there is no risk of cross-contamination or infection.  Patients do not normally feel pain when these solid, fine needles are inserted; a dull aching feeling or tingling has been reported but passes quickly.  The patient then is able to relax for the duration of the session, usually between 20 and 30 minutes.  After treatment, patients report feeling great.  Acupuncture commonly requires up to 5 sessions for the patient to receive the full benefits of treatment.

Finally, people here in the valley can take advantage of the same Eastern medicine that has been helping patients for centuries.  The providers here at East Valley Naturopathic Doctors are at the ready to help you eliminate your distressing health issues with the effective and natural treatment of acupuncture.
