Help keep the men in your life healthy this Father’s Day

The best father’s day present is the gift of health.   This year it would be a great idea to give the recipe below to the ones you love to improve physical and mental stamina and longevity.  An easy way to keep all the men in your life healthy is by recommending they drink one smoothie every day.    It can be consumed at breakfast or as a snack but by blending the following key ingredients you can ensure that they are getting all the nutrients they need at least one time in their day. It is really simple to make, so no excuses,  this is one you should drink also!

Protein smoothie recipe:

  • 8-10 oz of water or 50% water and 50% alternative milk:  almond, coconut, oat, flax or rice milk
  • 1 scoop of whey isolate protein
  • 1 scoop of pHresh Harvest Super Green Food
  • ½ to ¾ cup of frozen organic berries or other organic fruits
  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • 1-2 tbsp of chia seeds

This smoothie contains a superb combination of protein and fiber which will help to balance blood sugars all day long and improve digestion. The whey protein isolate has an added benefit as it helps with detoxifying the liver, reducing muscle fatigue after working out, and replenishing glutathione, which is one of the most important anti-aging anti-oxidants in the body.  Jay Robb makes a great whey isolate powder because it contains none of the chemical sweeteners that are harmful to our health.  Chia seeds are a great source of Omega 3s and fiber, and offer approximately 7grams per serving.  They can improve bowel irregularity, help to balance blood sugars and are also known to provide minerals like: calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, molybdenum, niacin, and zinc.  I also add pHresh Harvest Super Green Food powder to the smoothie.  It comes in original, spiced apple and mint but I use the original for this purpose.  It offers a variety of greens, vegetables, fruits and herbs.  It is so high in anti-oxidants that 1 serving is equivalent to 10 servings of vegetables or 5 servings of fruit.  Another important note is that it is dairy, gluten and soy free which all green powders on the market can’t tout.
