Acupuncture: Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine that is growing in use and popularity within the U.S. Acupuncture is utilized to treat many health conditions including depression, anxiety, infertility, sinus infections, allergies, and many other conditions. Acupuncture more specifically, can be used in weight loss to improve energy and emotional stability with improved appetite control and in the treatment of low back, neck, hip, knee, and or ankle pain (to name a few), which might hinder an individual's mobility.
Colorpuncture: Colorpuncture is also a powerful holistic healing therapy, which uses precisely targeted light treatments to gently unlock and release emotional trauma, which are often linked to physical symptoms. Scientists are now discovering that light is actually the medium by which cells communicate, and it is at the very basis of many body functions.
In a Colorpuncture treatment, frequencies of colored light are focused on the skin emitting different colors of light. Each color consists of different wavelength frequencies of light and, therefore, communicates different energetic information. Treatments include a specific set of points in a sequence using a prescribed pattern of colors. As the light is absorbed by the skin and transmitted along energetic pathways or meridians deep into the body, it stimulates intra-cellular communication, which supports healing. Patients report not only changes in their bodies, but improved emotional outlooks and a clearer sense of life direction after treatments.
Nutritive Intravenous Therapy: Nutritive intravenous therapy or IV therapy is an effective method of delivering vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants to the cells. We all have limitations on how much we can absorb from our diet. Taking high doses of many nutrients can cause diarrhea for example. Because IV therapy delivers its nutrients directly into the blood stream, concerns of poor absorption or excessive liver metabolism are bypassed. Patients' nutrient levels in the body are able to rise more significantly and have tremendous effects on metabolism, energy, and disease prevention and/or treatment. IV treatments have been found useful in numbers of conditions such as chronic headaches/migraines, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, cancer prevention, and general wellness.
Prolotherapy: Prolotherapy, also known as Regenerative Injection Therapy, is designed to strengthen and rebuild joint laxity. It is a series of injections of dextrose, procaine and other nutrients that cause a local healing response that results in the production of new connective tissue. This new tissue results in greater joint stability and a reduction in pain.
Trigger Point Therapy: Trigger Point Therapy is the utilization of stretching and nutrient injections in tight muscles that are causing either local or referred pain. The stretching and injections allow the muscles to relax and return to their normal length with an improvement in motion and diminishment of pain.
Disease Prevention: Preventing disease is the key to living a long and healthy life. You do not have to wait until you are sick to come to the doctor. Having a yearly physical exam along with blood work will allow your doctor to notice any subtle changes in your body that you may not be able to detect. Learn what nutritional supplements, dietary choices and exercise you should be doing to keep you or bring you to an ideal state of health. The lifestyle changes you make can influence and positively impact your family's health and well-being as well.
Herbal Therapy: Herbal therapy is the utilization of medicinal plants and substances for the benefit and promotion of healing in an individual. Plants were mankind's first form of medicines, but have taken a backseat to newer and stronger drugs. Disappointingly time has proven that many drugs have undesirable side effects and have even proven fatal. Thus we turn back to nature, whose design provides a perfect balance and blend of therapeutic benefits to treat nearly every ailment known to man.
Contraception Consulting: The consultation will provide current information on birth control options, including hormonal methods (the pill, NuvaRing), barrier methods (diaphragms, FemCap), surgical options and the fertility awareness method. You will be able to identify what the best birth control is for you based on your needs and lifestyle. Depending on your preference, fittings for the barrier methods or a prescription for hormonal birth control will be issued during your appointment. You must have had a pap smear within the past year, so bring a copy of your most recent pap smear or come prepared to have the exam done the same day.
Well Woman Exam: A well woman exam includes a pap smear, pelvic, breast, heart, lung and thyroid exam. Since the induction of the Pap smear, the incidence of cervical cancer has declined by more than 70% in the U.S. over the past 50 years.
The American Cancer Society guidelines advise women to begin annual screening by the age of 21 or within the year of first sexual activity. Women who have had a hysterectomy should continue to have pap smears every 2-3 years, but an annual physical exam still should to be performed.
The pap smear is not the only reason why women have the well woman exam. Breast exams should be performed by a clinician yearly to note if there are any lumps present. The pelvic exam can often detect masses, prolapse or melanomas on the vulva. Referrals for Mammograms and DEXA scans will be given out at the appointment when appropriate.
Screening for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): If you are currently sexually active, have multiple partners, or a history of multiple partners, it is important to be screened for STIs. The most common STIs are Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes, HPV, Trichomoniasis and HIV. It is important to understand that you can be positive for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea and not have any symptoms. STIs not treated with an antibiotic, such as Chlamydia, can cause scarring of the fallopian tubes leading to infertility. It should be understood that birth control pills, diaphragms and cervical caps including condoms, do not protect you from getting a STI.
