A licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor (N.M.D.) attends a four-year graduate level naturopathic medical school and is educated in all of the same basic sciences as an M.D. In addition to a standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic physician is required to complete four years of training in clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathic, and botanical medicine. They study holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness.

Since Naturopathic doctors are trained as primary-care physicians, they can apply the best of allopathic medicine with natural medicine for the benefit of the patient. Besides the familiar traditional options, Naturopathic doctors utilize homeopathy, medicinal herbs, clinical nutrition, Chinese medicine, including acupuncture, lifestyle counseling, and other natural therapies, to remove the cause of disease and improve health. Naturopathic doctors have a great interest in helping each individual become empowered to affect change within there own life and assist them in achieving there life goals by removing the obstacles blocking the return of health.
